About Artist

Painting since 1985 (portraits since 1988), Darren has gone through some changes in style as most artists do. Until 1996 Darren had been strictly a realist painter; rendering portraits, landscapes, and still-life pictures with a life-like quality. Darren now paints in a slightly more impressionistic and expressive style. “After studying and painting in the Japanese Sumi style (ink on rice paper), I was impressed with the way Sumi artists could represent many strokes with just a few and decided to incorporate this in my other works.”
Mr. Boysha is mainly a self-taught artist with the exception of attending the Art Students League of New York for a short time as well as participating in John Howard Sanden’s Portrait Painting seminars. Mr. Boysha’s portraits include physicians, distinguished clergy (Father Danusur -collection of the Ukranian Catholic National Shrine in Washington DC) as well as families and individuals from all walks of life.
